Is anybody considering this weekend? Wind is looking strong yet again - not sure if I can be bothered to brave getting cut in half by the wind all day again....
It was from the north i thought last weekend causing a choppy sea, its more from the west until mid sat then its south, i think it will be ok thou as stated above the drift will be light speed.
we're having a crack at it this afternoon after 2pm, inshore and local, hopefully it should be ok, as for tomorrow, i'm going to go and look before i decide to play out...
I'm definately giving it a go tomorrow. Putting her back in the water tonight, then having an early start tomorrow morning. Not fussed about the wind too much, as long as the sea is flat-ish it would be nice just to get out. I've been itching to get out for ages now! :red:
Got back from hols late last night and the beeb forcast said, 9mph westerly for today. Looking out the window right now, i'd say it was a bit stronger than that as it's thrashing the trees about quite hard at times, so i'll wait for a calmer day. Good luck to those who venture out though.
Just got back in at 10.15 after setting off at 7 in the little boat behind Coquet Island. Ended up drifting at 2.4 knots in strong ssw wind. Managed to pick up 16 cod to 5lb over peaks but the fast drift made it near impossible to hold bottom in just 50 ft. I saw that bbc forecast and gave it a try but 9mph was a bit off the mark. No macky here yet.
I have changed my mind...not fishing this weekend it was shocking today.. magic wanabee site had 0.5ft waves..yer add 4.5ft on that and they be close, weekend to do some jobs in the house i think. drift was 1.8-2/2 all day but did catch.
I went and had a quick peep out of Seaton Sluice after putting my boat in the water tonight and its quite nice out there (well, this was about 6:00pm). See was flat with the smallest of swells then flattened off completely by about 7:30. Didnt take any rods (although wish we had! ), but we're heading out at about 3:30 - 4:00am tomorrow morning. Cant wait!!
Yeah its a nice little harbour & everyone seems canny who is in there. Not the best for getting in & out of though if there's a bit of a chop on! :red:
Are dont get me wrong as said in last post today will be well fishable at sea in the morning time due to the lul in the wind..just needeing a rest from the fishing this weekend and rather go out when conditions better both sea, drift and wind and get jobs done in the house now.
Sure we will see lots of catch reports today but my catch report will be catching a can when i am doing diy
i have the odd pint in the pub above that (kings head i think its called) and have always wondered if anyone here owns a boat in there...i used to pass it everyday going to work watching people working on there boats. nice to finally see someone uses it!
