I wish the walkway wasn't so snaggy it's defo a great spot but the snags put me off, well done catching the fish mate.

It's not that snaggy bud, but distance and the correct spot on the walkway can pay dividends when wanting a snag-free session.

Ive fished there many times and have had many sessions without losing any gear.

few year also found walkway snaggy at times a lost eight grippers in very short time , but for some reason a dont seem to lose much there now, why ?
hav'nt got clue, but a only fish it at either end never in the middle mabye thats why

the river has just been dredged that might be why there is less snags around

thanks for info may give it a try myself when tides drop off got some frozen crab.

i used to fish the vidor jetty -think thats what you call it goes out at an angle in the river next to vider.

realy sickened me off when they stopped anglers going on my favourite tyne mark.

Sounds like a canny sesh mate. Frozen crab in my experience is a killer at times there. I don't personaly like the place but it does hoy some belters up. i would always say try and get into the middle of the river but you will get problems with boat traffic, even the pilot from what I hear on here.

just looking at what you are saying about try to get in the middle of the river.i dont no how wide it is, often i wundered how wide.
i used to fish the opposite side a lot ice house another hell of a mark but tackle losses would be high if you did,nt get well out, point is i used to get a fair few fish from here with a decent cast others falling short not as much success.

now is a good cast from both sides best and how wide is the river .i do hear of a lot of anglers fishing the walkway casting moderately and having lots of succes.

Think the river around there is about 250m across mate, just lookin at google map like. Yes you can get good fish at shorter range but in my experience the klonkers have all come at distance.
