From time to time, the question of \"where can I get a good, on line, tide predictor?\" crops up on NESA.

For the past year, or so, I\'ve been using a tide calculator I found on here.......

http://www.angling.ukf.net/software/nwsafreesoftware.htm

The one I use is the one at the top of the list.
It shows you the whole tidal movement from any selected \"home port\" for up to 2 months in advance. It also adjusts itself to take GMT / BST into account (no having to add or subtract an hour, yourself)

2 REALLY good things about it are.....

1. You can use it off-line
2. It\'s completely FREE

Tony - I just bought the Neptune tidal prediction software and it looks like a nice piece of software. However - when I compare the predicition data to my trusty east-coast tide books there\'s a difference in terms of time and tidal height. I\'m not expecting it to be a perfect match as this is not an exact science - but it\'s a little concerning. I\'ll test both against the freebie link you\'ve provided and let you know.

Cheers Wertster.

Never thought of doing a comparison.

Just done a quick test on the tides for Wed 16.06.04.....

TIDE TABLE BOOK:
H/W 3:25AM 4.5M
L/W 9:39AM 1.3M
H/W 3:39PM 4.5M
L/W 9:53PM 1.3M

FREEBIE TIDE PREDICTOR:
H/W 3:18AM 4.4M
L/W 9:37AM 1.3M
H/W 3:34PM 4.4M
L/W 9:53PM 1.3M

They look close enough for me ;)

NOTE: I\'ve added the extra hour onto the times from the Tide Table book

Tony - I checked the freebie against the Neptune package which I\'d bought and  hmmmmf! they match perfectly well. The moral of this story is that I could have saved myself some cash.....oh well it\'s only money.

I got the Bellfield Tide Plotter which is quite good, giving ports all around the UK and Europe. This gives you 3 years in advance.
