Hold my rod on the rock edges and use reflective tape with a headlamp.

Got one of the tip lights your on about Mitch, its the H2O Bite Alert, flashes green, then red when you have a bite, was a bit on the wary side wene I first
used it, but in all honesty it works a treat, everytime its flashed red I have had a fish on.

I got one ov them to try and first cast it flew off so never got to see it in action so I would suggest a bit tape to keep it on the rod even tho it fit snug it still came off

theirs 2 types cjt type are crap they just work a couple of times but the delta tip light I've had for a long time and its fine no probs

the one I had was like a BIG bullet don't know what type it was sure it was a delta it was spot on when it worked but let me down 3rd or 4th time I used it so didn't seem to last that long I think those snap lights are spot on but at a pund/pund fifty a shot you'd be better off looking for something else eh for the long run?

this hapened to me after a session now i remove one of the batterys wen not in use seems ok now

That's them mate, never had one come off while casting, when I got mine there was two different fittings in the pack, one 3mm and one 5mm clip section to fit most rods.

Unless your fishing the beaches And 2 rods or bass fishing, tip tape and headlamp every time.

I just use chemical lights held on with sellotape had no problems
