tony taylor Patique Morton 13ft carbon rod

This is a blast from the past, I had the 12ft I think and a 13ft 6. The 12 had red edging to the whipping and the 13 had blue if I remember correctly. Also had a moncrieff fibre-tube,conoflex blackadder and an original flick-tip amongst others over the years.
Just remembered used to have an abu zoom spinning rod as well!! wish I still had it.

aye lads, bought one myself about 20 yr ago from bagnall & kirkwoods in the toon it was the sc6 model complete with tonys signature upon it about 48 quid at the time, didnt last long couple of months later it snapped and when sent away the wrong rod came back so after that shambles it was temples in whitley for me from then on they produced some fine rods of which i couldnt stop buying, cod 6, dc6, dc8 orange top, flick tips and of course the conoflex boat & spinning rods, those were the days korky..
Its matched with a 1970s abu 7000,still doe the biz.
yep same here ive been thinking of stripping mine down too its a canny combo with the abu 7000 like you i'll never part with it great rod over rough ground and windy weather,,, must have been quite a few sold in the 80's

think the tony taylor rod and the pataek morton rods were two different rods.
they were very popular.
about same time i got a 13ft pure carbon rod from century it was very light and very fast taper apparently there were only 15 made.
think the rod before i had above was possibly the martin james springheel green in colour three pice rod, had some good cod out of the scottish sea lochs with this rod.

guys all these rods and reels are well before my time(born 76). Its good to hear that you still hang onto those first rods though, for me it was freshwater fishing in the swale down at richmond using maggots, the rod was a "white wonder" summick like 17ft float rod, still got it somewhere, wouldnt part with it though just cos it was my first.

New to the Forum
Returning to fishing after a 30yr (ish) break!
Ive just pulled my Pateke Morton out the loft last week, took it down to Cornwall for some fishing (caught nowt, nothings changed
)
Anyway the rod...
My dads factory was next door to where these were made in Washington
He bought me this rod when I was 14yr old.
I had a Mitchell reel and could cast miles
I lived at Bill Quay on the River Tyne, we used to catch codling and eat them, blimey im still alive!
Back then there was no internet and I had no transport, I remember South Shields Pier being a treat.
Anyway heres some photo's.
Im hoping with this Forum I can gain advice tips etc so I can start catching fish.

my first rd was the sealey sea serpent, then in yrs to come came along the martin james springheel three piece rod absolutely brilliant.
i did have a very nice rod off century during the time of the pateque morton era and century said it was a full carbon rod 13ft, the wieght of it at the time i could imagine it been full carbon as it been so light to other rods been around at that time.

av still got an old milbro beach rod with full cork handle lying around somewhere n a still use a century formula slammer as my day t day rod

Yeah - still got mine, bought it second hand (early 70's) for £15,customised, reel seat is shod but improvise with a jubilee clip - Rod is still great and still give it a run out now and then. Butt section is heavy and gives your back some jip after a while when holding in your hands. :red:
