i was thinking of going to amble on saturday to spin for mackerel not sure if its still too early yet can anyone advise pls ;)

Its not.... as my past reocrds show 26th,28th of May...4th and 9th of June for the last 4 years that i have caught them from the shore but with the north east winds blowing all week and the colour of the water....YOU WILL BE LUCKY.

Also this is in the wrong forum :)

Good luck anyway.

ted, i fished amble last thurs off the boat. The water close in was cloudy. We ended up going out to 5 mile. The next spell of calm weather once the waters clear should put them in range.

regards

stu

allways the weather and sea scares them off,if all was calm and that they would of been in ,but like mother nature spoils everything

There not far away

There not far away

Fished craster early morning close in about 400yds off harbour mouth, had 3 codling to 3lb plus 4 mackerel about 20feet of the surface before the weather buggered it up with bloody cold easterly and freezing sea fret. So they're definetely there, i think as soon as this weather breaks they'll hit the piers, polish ya spinners mate

Roker pier The Mackeral seems to have arrived

Roker pier The Mackeral seems to have arrived

Get your self of Roker pier fished from 5 till about 10 half past last nite me and my mate had 21 between us i also lost one, coalies were boiling to the top as it got dusky for the sprat a bloke fishing next to me also had 5 mackeral. There was only 6 caught earlier on in the day by my other mate and then one after he had left so obviously the best time to fish with these medium tides is to just simply fish it up, at times we were getting fours and fives at a time then it slowed right down as the tided stopped running also the seals back and it seems to have grown somewhat since the last time i seen it (belly full of mackeral LOL) unless its a different one. Hope this information helps you mate.

me and my mate had 21 mackeral of roker last nite in the space of 5 hours done better then most like. Shouldn't be long until there are dense shoals of them kicking about shields and blyth though.
