top tip. why spend £3.50 ish on glow bug tip lights and they only last few fishing trips, or them battery tip lights waste of YOUR MONEY. right go to poundland buy in packs 5 lighter for a pound with blue LEDS on the under side. unscrew the back plate off and there you go one tip light which costs you 20p thats all and lasts for a long time. just put a bit of electricians tape round it to make the conection when you tape it onto your tip.

only 20p per light you can even use a new one every time you go fishing and they are bright as hell. thanks:D:D:D:D:D:D

On the same lines, go to poundland and buy 2 wheel lights for a pound (they fit on your car tyre dustcap and flash when moving) you get 2 lights and spare batteries, tape them to your tip and they only flash when your rod tip moves.

got some glow sticks from poundshop washington about oct 15 sticks about 6 or 8ins lg 5mm dia tape on tip with selotape 15 for a pound got three tubes for 3quid about 45 glow stcks 6ins lg that will do me.

I quite like the idea of the dustcap lights Davy :D :D sometimes if you have a bright tip light it can give you a bad head staring at it all night, especially when it doesn't move lol.

i bought a tip light from my local tackle shop a red one it only works when it wants to ! do you think i should take it back? it was only a fiver

Ive got a box full and they are all tempremental its the contacts in the tip of the light have a play with them and it normally sorts it out..:)

i have a couple its just this one it does my head in when it gets mixed up with others,i have tried playing about with it i need to put it seperate from the rest or change it to a blue one cheers mate

keep an eye open for when lidl or aldi have fishing sale on they normally have a box of 50 chemical lights for £1.99

Someone usually makes a post about the ones at Lidl when they go on sale Steve so just keep your eyes open. They are all I have used for ages now, sick of struggling to get some of the tip lights to work at times, at least if you put a few of the chemical lights in your box you will never be stuck. A few inches of bait elastic and it's sorted. Remember to break and shake it before you fasten it to your rod tip though :D :D :D

a take a small roll of clear sellotpe so cover both ends
so line not able to get inbetween light and rod

Good point that Bob, I always make sure I pull the elastic tight enough to have it tight against the rod too. Even in the tip light holder it pulls tight at the bottom end so the line won't get under.

hi jim my rod never moves so it saves me money buying lights etc realy i need,nt buy live bait a plastic worm would do.

I used to use the ones from the poundland lighters a while back.i also used the 6 inch glow sticks too but stopped using them as there was a few horror stories of people snapping tips off rods because the glow stick when taped on each end reduced the flexability of the rod tip and put more pressure on the rest of the tip section.

Mine was the same, there is a wire running up the side, use a pin or something to pull it out a little & move it to the side just a fraction. Sorted mine.

Think i will try the poundshop lighter trick though
