torpedos on the starboard bow

just had a wee wander along the river earlier, the water level had dropped back over the last few days, but there's been a few downpours today giving it a fresh run of water, but not a stupid amount... perfect conditions for the torpedoes that were scudding over the ford, veritable squadrons of the buggers, the dog, only just out of puppydom and new to this game was doing her best grizzly bear impression and trying to catch one! I was willing her on just to test the regulations - she hasn't got a rod licence (but wasn't using one anyway) or a permit (but is a dog!)

So anyone with a hankering for some sea trout, they're about ripe for the picking. Early dusk onwards tomorrow night I reckon will be deadly - both fish wise and midge wise!

All being well I'll be down there with (in order of desperation) Baltic Specials, Silver Blue and Teal, Ally's Shrimp, Stoats Tail, garden fork, carp net, gill net and dynamite and smoking like a trooper to keep the midges at bay (although obviously not I resort to the last option)

Mark sorry to sound dim but is a torpedo some type of fly.

Mick.

lol! torpedos as in the wake that the fish leave as they scud across the ford in just a few inches of water

didn't get down unfortunately, was the bairns end of term show at the village hall which on pain of death I had to attend, so maybe the morra night!
