After buying some Fladen Torsk lures a year or so ago I was convinced that Torsk was Noweigen (sorry about the spelling) for Cod. How wrong I was. Here\'s a description and piccy if anyones ionterested. Quite an interesting site as well.

Torsk = Cod.........I thought the same, Mike !

Looks like a cross between a Cod & a Ling. I\'d imagine that they\'d get to SOME size

Intersting to hear if anybody\'s caught one.

Torsk dont grow that big up to 15lb i think !

Mike the qualifying weight for the shore record is 3lb.
back in the early nineties a mate of mine had one @4lb up at cove, aberdeenshire and put it back lol

boat record is 15lb7oz2dr from the pentland firth

tony, they are called tusk up our way, they are more like humungus rockling with a lings teeth, i caught 2 up off kinlochbervie on a wreck, 1 @ 4lb and 1 @ 8.5lb, and they fight harder than both cod or ling, i don\'t think they suffer decompression, the trawlermen up there call them \"rubber mannies\" because their skin is so tough and rubbery

Thanks Mike, for the original post and Bert Gogs & Les for the info.

Learned something, there ;)

i didn\'t eat mine but i did fillet them and gave them to a friend of mine, the worst part was getting the skin off, it seemed attached to the flesh with sinews all over the inside of the skin, you had to cut the skin off, the only other fish i have had to do this with was a hake fillet, but the hake was beautiful eating, my friend said the tusk was ok, but he didn\'t want another one if i caught them again

in fact i just remembered i had it in a chinese restaurant once, i said to the waiter \"this tusk is rubbery\" and he said \"ah, fankyou\" :casstet: :D
