ttr

just wondering if anyone has had any experience with century ttrs, wondering what the differences are between the rods and what the older red ones are like in particular,
thanks in advance. dan:)

Hi mate I've got the old ox blood tt-r and I think its a cracking piece of kit but I hear that the newer one isn't as good and abit softer but people have their own views on this

i have been told by several top casters there is no difference at all apart from blank colour.i have an ox blood one myself and thought it was slightly stiffer then the black one.john

I personally found it the most over rated bit of kit on the market. I was so exicited when i bought one second hand (Ox Blood version).. being a Zziplex man, i was expecting to fall in love with it and be treated to a supreame casting machine way and above anything ive had.

But I found it heavy in weight, slow in action, not that thin and just a total utter powertool, with very little feeling in it for actual fishing. Unless your a big hitting pendulam man who can wind it up and get the mountains of power in it to come alive.. it will be completely wasted on you if your just overhead chucking. Im a near 20 stone gym goer.. with confirmed casts of 250yards +.. but jeez.. i could hardly get the thing to bend and work for me in mid cast.

I found the Zziplex Zetech a far far superior bit of kit in userbility and casting results as it aint such a "scaffold pole"

But as with everything in life, its personal choice.. they are very much like marmite.. you`ll love it or hate it!

Totally agree mate. I'm nearly 12 stone wet through and it's a waste on me and mines the softer version! Can't get into the butt as it's a beast. I'm dreading going to try and cast it on sunday and think i'll stick to my bendier options!

As for the fishing side, It's heavy, lifeless but canny for hauling out cod in the weeds when there lyin on! :red:

ttr

one of the best rods around but you need to find a way to crank it up.i use a sort of semi pendulum which putsthe bait out very far, pays to spend some time practising;)

ive had the big danny triple 3 version , and its definately softer than the black one i own , i think the black ones have slightly more in the tip than the red ttr but think the butt is slightly softer on the black one , both cracking rods , i used to use zziplex for fieldwork but now use the ttr , i do agree that the rod is sometimes a lifeless lump , but do know that the zziplex zeteque is stiffer still

I can put a lead 230yards mate which isn't that bad! I would still say it's too stiff for me!

....obviously i'll not get the best out of the rod or i would be chucking 300yards!

Never cast the Zeteque so can't comment but heard it's a beast as well.

i know u have cast 230 yards ive seen u cast 222ish but it was just out of court at nesa in crap conditions , and i also know that the zeteque is more powerfull than a ttr ive cast both , the thing is with a ttr your timing has to be pretty good , u have to hit it late , and its a good fishing rod 2

the origional ttr was a heavy very stiff rod the new one looks slimmer to me but i havent used one so i cant comment on it . i had 2 origional ones they used to cripple me back after a sesson

ive had a ttr and now own a zeteque, i found trying to cast a big bait into a head on wind with the ttr was nearly impossible due to its weight and diameter, the zeteque is much more forgiving and is a much better fishing rod.
again as already said, it personal preference.
