Turkey Today

Well I went to the supermarket today for some raw chicken as the locals reckon its the best bait to use here.

I started off float fishing with raw chicken, the first cast the float disappeared so I struck and after about ten seconds the fish came off. Same thing happened with my next cast, so I changed to using smaller hooks.
The float disappeared again and what a fight i had and the result was one mullet weighing in at about a pound and a half, and this was caught using raw chicken.

After a couple of hours float fishing I decided to go bottom fishing, so I cast out about 80 yards and after about 10 minutes got my first bite, picked rod up and struck it,what a dead weight no fight at all, when i got it to the side the lifeguard said do not touch it as it is very poisionous, managed to unhook it and the wife put it back into the water alive.Lifeguard said it was a balloon fish.

After about half an hour rod bent double and this was just the bite,so i struck into something that was very heavy and a hell of a fighter, after about ten minutes of playing this fish my line snapped. GUTTED the one that got away again.

Well off to the jetty tomorrow for another session and will try to get the one that got away.

Will post pics when i return home.

All this on fresh raw chicken, will be trying raw chicken when i return home.

Wow, sounds like a very interesting place to fish. Love the gentlemanly way you got the wife to put the poisonous fish back:D:D:D. I got some chicken out the freezer this morning, defrosted by 4pm then chucked it ........ON THE BARBY, where it's supposed to go:cool: Looking forward to the pics, especially the one your gonna catch tomorrow:eek::eek:

I,m going on Holiday to Turkey next week and have just bought a telescopic rod and floats etc. Interesting that chicken is a good bait. I used bread in Cyprus last year but it was hard work chewing it and putting it in a ball on the hook leaving the hook exposed.

when i went to spain spanish guy showed me what to do with the bread, you make a lasue with your line and tighten it onto the bread. i was just catching loads of small bream but thats all there was there. was good diving watching thousands of them go crazy like paranas and hook themselfs then i would go reel in lol also dont use bread u use bagette stays on much better and longer.

well back from turkey and had some great fish, not massive but had pb mullet and caught new species.

fished with locals and had some great advice off the life guard.

i was giving a floating bread rig off the locals never seen one before but it worked very well and it had 14 hooks on.what you have to do is get a large lump of bread and wrap the line with the hooks on around the bread and cast it out no weight on let the bread float.do not strike until float goes under.

will post all pics when i load them on computer.
