Tweeddale Again

Visited Tweeddale yesterday and had a canny day. The weather conditions were not to good, misty and miserable most of the time and this seemed to keep the fish sub surface.
Tried a few buzzers to start off with but got no joy, after an hour or so and a few fly changes I decided to put on Richards Dinky Do, second cast a fish of approx 4lbs. carried on with this pattern and caught another 3.
The fishing died off for a while so I moved around the fishery and tried various other methods/fly's with no success.
Late into the session I put on a Haswells Olive and was immediately rewarded with a cracking fish of around 7lbs, a real smasher.
Ended the day with 8 fish, all returned safe and sound ready for my next visit in a fortnight.

Cheers Lads

I am led to believe the fishery is really busy at the weekends, so yes John we normally go thru' the week.
I have a peek at the wind map and pick the day that has the least wind strength.
We have been there on various days and we normally manage to pick up a fish or two.

Hi!

I think I'm just going to re-name my dinky do, 'The Tweedale'! never seems to fail up there! Its nice to see other people enjoying the fly as much as I hae the past few years!

Cheers!

No doubt about your pattern Richard, it certainly does the business.

Great fly, not just for Tweeddale though, it is successful on other fisheries as well.:)

Dinky-do ??

Dinky-do ??

Can someone please tell me what sort of fly a dinky-do is or better still what it looks like ? Also what is the best way to present it (floating or intermediate line etc)
Thanks for any info.......
