Remember seeing a bloke casting from spillers over to the gateshead side.Would imagine that aint far off 200 yards also.
I was there one time and saw Malcolm put a lead over the railings on the other side, pretty amazing. I think off to the left its probably around 235 yds, off to the right its deffo 260ish+
Down from St peters club traffic lights, byker tip over to gateshead stadium side i would estimate to be about 210yds to the other side.
A lot less than that i would think probably only 170 at most
Don't shoot the messenger!
Google Earth has the left corner at 200yrds boys. If it's the same spot me and the other other lad are looking at.
I can only hit about half way!
Any chance of any lessons...Mr Chukka and barker![]()

Didnt take you long Peter! haha
Is google earth in yds or metres?? might explain the difference.
If its 200 yds then you might be able to hit the other side! if its metres you might struggle judging by your last trip to NESA !!
cod, cod, cod, that's ok mate,we never used google earth at that time we would have thought it was another planet.
I still go down to this mark to try my new reels and also I enjoy trying to improve my casting.even at my age.
But I didn't like to say I also put a lead over the railings at the left side, but there was a strong north wind and maybe a fluke cast(never did it again).
If you would like any help with your casting That would be no problem to me as I say I'm often there and more than willing to help.
You could send me a pm and I would give you my mb number.
Andy you know I've Improved since then!
It's what u do with a bait that counts and judging by your casting comp that u's had on bog hall today not alot!![]()
How much have you improved though, only the tape measure will tell!!
You should take Harry up on his offer btw!
just a quick way for you lads/lasses to convert meters to yards, all you have to do is take away the first 2 digets of the known meters distance from the distance itself will give you the yardage, couple of examples for you
200m will be approx 180 yards
170m will be approx 153 yards
100m will be approx 80 yards
this is all approximate but it works wih me ad my sniper rifle
