tyne flooding around scotswood bridge

had a phone call t say the tyne had broke its banks around scotswood bridge area n around the marina just downstream n also the the groyne at s sheilds any1 heard out

was a really big tide today, was fishing down jarrow and it came up and over the wall

wierd......i came off roker tonight and the tide was right up ,never seen a flood tide that big for a while,on paper it was only 5.5 flood......looking at how high it was on Roker beach it was bigger than that

Thats down jarrow and there was still an hour to go before high tide

Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the same on the Wear. I was down in the Golden Lion at 2 and it was high then.

there was flooding on the quayside around the swing bridge at high tide, council sent down a pump for people to get their cars out of the carpark

By all accounts there was a storm surge along the east coast last night. Strong winds acting on the water surface offshore combined with the spring tides causes a bigger than normal tide. Here are some photos and report from down the coast at Whitby.

Aye, that's a fair amount o water. Fished the low ledge yesterday and noticed roker looked awfully low in the water.
