I keep getting pestered by my kids to take them fishing, anyone fished the walkway recently as it's nice and safe for them with a chance of catching something.
The best way i can describe it is that it's on the southern side of the Tyne next to the sailing club and pier. Keep the sailing club to your right and follow the path around to the left. It's in front of the last set of houses which look out towards North Shields fish quay.
Safe for kids as it's got railings all the way along.
One thing you need to be aware of when fishing the walkway is that it's very difficult to hold the bottom unless you fish it on a small tide. Anything above a 2.5 metre tide will result in you and the kids losing gear. A better place to take them is the Customs House. It's a lot easier for the kids to fish and you have the added benefit of the Customs House facilities. The kids can use the toilets and buy drinks to take out.
How dare you - it's traditional round these parts to find a doorway or sheltered nook on a pier, rubbish bin (if it hasn't already been used for firewood) or up against a lampost in an area used by non anglers for pleasant walks and general enjoying stuff. What is it with these people btw .
