Tynemouth pier access?

I was wondering if someone could clear up a bit of confusion for me. I have heard conflicting reports on the legality of fishing Tynemouth pier. I have fished it in a few opens which if I remember correctly were pegged. I normally fish the Amble area and drive from newcastle but with the price of diesel being so high I fancy trying some marks a bit closer and have always seen consistent reports coming off the pier or rocks inside most of the year. I have heard that you have to be a Tynemouth club member to fish the pier but again if anyone could clear this up it would be greatly appreciated. Also are there any restrictions on the hours you can fish? I have seen some people risking life and limb scaling those gates! Thanks,

Graham.

hi mate you have to be in a club to fish tynemouth pier for insurance there are four clubs that have the right to fish the pier
but there are people that go over the the fence at night there is a camera at the gate now big brothers watching (jai tynemouth meber)

The North Pier is owned by the Port of Tyne Authority and is private property, fishing is not allowed unless in a club as mentioned, but if you are mad enough to climb the gates, there isn't a camera, the camera is in the lighthouse and its not there to catch fishermen ( I know cos I put it there ) but i must stress I would strongly condone fishing the pier without permission.

send me a pm for more info if you like

LMFAO, yes totally!

"I would strongly reccommend AGAINST fishing the North Pier without permission and in no way condone it"

you will find if theres a way theres a will ,if theres news of fish catching it wont stop anyone they will travel in numbers ,and it will happen a lot in the future how stupid or sane they are ,they will get on some how just like most venues

Thanks for all the info on the pier, I have fished the rocks inside during a sea league match a few years ago and did ok. What are the best conditions for the pier or rocks, ebb or flood and with what kind of sea conditions? Is the end of the pier the best mark or anywhere else? If anyone can help It would be great. Sorry for all of the questions, if anyone wants any info on any marks around Amble just ask, I have been fishing up there for 17 years with the Amble club.

too the left of the pier are castle rocks, they are best fished on a flat to moderated sea on medium to big tides fishing the north corner area.3 hours before low and 2 hours up as you can get cut off,too the right is the haven rocks which are best fished on medium to big tides on flat to moderate seas 3 hours before low and 3 hours on the flood. cast straight off the front towards south shields pier, as for the pier its not worth the hassel unless you want to break the law:D

Tynemouth Pier.

A number of clubs have permission to fish Tynemouth Pier. Insurance is not a must, but any club (big or small) applying for permission from the Tyne Harbour Authority must sign an indemnity form absolving the authority from any blame in the event of an accident or worse. Clubs that have permission to use the pier are only allowed to use it during daylight hours. Sometimes there are a couple of clubs fishing it at the same time, it then becomes a gentlemens agreement as to who fishes where and when. The Harbour Masters office at North Shields will give you more information regarding this. If a number of you got together and formed a club you could then apply for permission to fish the pier
