Hello, I dont particularly fancy climbing round the fence, do you have to be in a club to get the gates open?

It's easy bud take your time and climb around the top gate much easier than the bottom . Think of all those 5/7lb COD m8 . Good luck .

yes there are clubs that are allowed to fish competitions on tynemouth pier some of the members are on nesa and put match results on ask them for information I am sure you will get the best advice and possible join one of the clubs
if you climb around the gate you stand the chance of prosecution by the port of tyne authority

I think even if you join the club you can still only fish matches on there and don't have unrestricted access. I may be wrong though.

You can only fish the pier if you are a member of a club that have permission to fish there, but only on comp days. Doesn't seem to fish as well as it can in the dark though, especially for cod.
