Tynemouth Tuesday Night

Went out for a couple of hours between 7 and 9 tonight after seeing the white water on Tynemouth beach. Had three casts on Slaty Gut which resulted in a codling of 1.5 lbs caught on fresh crab. Moved on to the beach, just past Stoney Skeer and had two more casts. First cast a nice fresh run codling of 3 lb, again caught on fresh crab. Nothing on lug or rag worm tonight. Both fish went back but not without a fight. Had to put the second one back twice before it swam away.
For any of you out there who don't live near the coast, there is a nice bit movement already and colour in the water. So if you want to catch cod you need to get out soon.
Cheers

I was next to you and saw the difficulty you had in putting that one back. I had been on Sharpness and had one of 5ib and two around the 2 21/2 mark. Moved down to the beach as I lost a fair bit of gear on the rougher ground. Didn't pick up anything on the beach though.
