Tynemouth

Fished the club match tonight. Started at Crawleys in Cullercoats. First two chucks hooked into fish but hung up and had to snap off. Next chuck managed a small codling 1.25lbs. Lad fishing close by had a nice cod of 4lb 11ozs. Went quiet so moved on to Tynemouth beach for last hour or so. First chuck a schoolie about 1 lb which went straight back after stabbing my finger and hand. Last cast managed a small plaice of about 0.5 lb which also went straight back. Back to the weigh in, some canny fish caught.

Marty, nice catch mate. Whereabouts on Tynemouth Beach did the bass and plaice come from? I often fish bottom of the stairs but a few guys have said the
bass are more common at the bathing pool end...

Ross , I was fishing in the middle of the beach , down from the Indian Restaurant.

Cheers Marty - seems like the bass prefer the clean sand and breaking surf compared to the holes around Slatey and the Boiler. I keep meaning to try the middle and south end at Tynemouth but always opt for the deeper water at the north end.
Can be a frustrating venue, but I suppose that's true of almost anywhere.
