Yep Male Dragonet, been a few on ragworm on Sileds pier of late.

yes a male dragonet i got one myself from blyth pier last week an posted it on here cos i wasnt sure either. Beautiful colours on them like

dunno mate never caught one but im guessin they wouldnt have the neon blue in them as again im guessin but i think its for attracting a mate or it could be for self defence or both ?????

Females are not brightly coloured, usually a dull brown - but they have the same distinctive shape.

They're a stunning fish when they're in their mating colours, very vivid - look like something that should be on a tropical reef 
Caught one as a kid in Blyth harbour, had a few in the early summers off Blyth pier aswell. Pretty sure everyone I've ever caught has taken Rag on a smaller hook.
Dorsal fin on them fascinates me, always wonder why it's as tall, assume it's to attract the laydeee's

I caught one about 5-6 years ago from the heugh at hartlepool they are a sunning little fish mine was also caught on ragworm
