Unlucky Coddy Mate

fished with coddy at roker pier tonight,started around 4.45 fishing just past the 2nd set of steps on the sea side,coddy only got 1 small bite,struck into it started reeling in,had the rod bent double,he rested the rod on the handrail to make it easier to reel in,when the fish broke water maybe 2-3 yards away from the pier wall,all we seen was this monster sized head,got it to within 1yard of the pier wall,the fish just rolled,spit the hook,and seemed to linger for ages(probably only about 5 secs) but seemed a hell of a lot longer,then disappeared.This cod was double figures and thats NO exageration.after that we moved up to the stairs at the roundhead as we were being washed over by the sea.i left at approx 9.15pm,i only caught a crab,left coddy fishing with an old guy called dave,they had nothing when i left.

yes and no ,well actually dave was taking a leek hes rod went and i took the bite for him a whiting around the pound mark so i says that was half a point each ,on my last cast took a whiting 6 inches long ,would of made a good cod bait too,so i never blanked lol
