I would just like to thank everybody that responded to this posting with very positive and constructive comments.
Without doubt every skipper does their best to give their customer’s the best day out they can and they charge accordingly If you want to go wreck fishing you don’t book a trip at Craster or if you want to go ground fishing you don’t book a wrecking boat out of the Tyne.

You should agree a price and trip duration and what type of fishing before you go not after.
When you book a trip on a charter boat you pay for the skippers experience who will do his very best to put you on the fish if he does not he will soon be out of business. This means that they will try to use the conditions on the day to their best advantage such as wind direction, wind speed ,tide height ,tide direction, water clarity ,etc .etc.. If you think you Know better don’t go buy your own boat

We at Amble have the choice of good hard ground fishing or some very productive wrecks within an hours steam at most
In nearly 20 years of charter fishing this posting is the most scathing comments that I have ever received.
Out of this idiots comments some good has transpired,
Hopefully People are a bit more informed on the running of a charter boat.

I have spoke to the charter boat skippers and forwarded this blokes details and they have agreed to
Ban him from the following boats.

Very informative post, this should be made a sticky, and put in a charter skippers section, after all there are as many charter boat anglers as private boat anglers...

The responsible boat anglers and boat owners among us know that safety is paramount, above catching fish, money, etc etc, so for him to critisize an act of safety in the middle of a boat angling section because of a few quid, was suicide.....

Good Luck Alf....;)

ha ha im pleased youve put this post up alf the guy was an idiot. Im not the most experienced angler on boats but any fool should recognise that saftey and preservation of human life becomes before any fish. Cheers alan

ahhh, gonna miss the Natalie, had some good sessions last year but now in Canada i sure miss the fishing. Cheers Kevin! wish i could do a few sessions this year!!!

I agree with The Jester, perhaps there should be a section for charter boats with a set of ground rules for booking the boat. I'll start the ball rolling with a couple of do's and dont's.

Do turn up in good time and if you're running late phone the skipper.

Don't turn up with one of those huge tackle boxes full of beer. You might think you're the life and soul after a few cans but the skipper will probably think you're a liability.

Do make sure you know the cost, duration and type of fishing involved.

Don't book the whole boat and then fail to turn up for the charter. If circumstances change and your party can't make it then inform the skipper asap, at least then he can try to fill the spaces.

Do go into the wheelhouse preferably towards the end of a long hard day, point in an easterly direction and tell the skipper thats where the fish are...over there. Skippers love that.

I'm sure the list will grow.

charter boat skippers are the professionals, we are private boat owners..mere amateurs....well done skipper...exelent post, but shouldn't of been needed....

1 bell end posting s**t could of cost you dear.....

Well done Dave hopefully this will prevent people posting one sided stories in future.

Is'nt it also funny how since the full story was posted and the correct questions asked and answered not one post has been put up critising you. perhaps in future people will obtain a balanced view before commenting as there are alwyas 2 suides to the story.
