semi frozen for me. like others have said take couple out of soup flask at a time.

just starting to thaw, then I put the hook through the middle once and kind of mould it around the hook shank, by that time its thawed even more and the elastic can bind it on securely.

Peel completely but if you can peel any claws the insides make a good addition to the bait in my view. Just lash them on the outside of the bait after the main crab meat is in place.
