sounds daft but ive gotten aload of muppet rigs of a mate and i dont get out on boats, is it worth trying them when beach/pier fishing? any info or tips would be great :)
cheers

well al give it a go, theres plenty for whiting about so fingers crossed al drop it on here if i get anything, ive just been given a little multi so am going down the beach to have a bit practice casting with that !! :)

haha am not very clued up, only been sea fishing a few months, a mate gave me a load of his old sea gear, theres loads of these muppet rigs in a rig wallet with the pennel rigs, booms, flattie, pulleys ect, thats why ive asked on here if there worth a shot  :p
everydays a school day!:D

never heard out so daft in my years of fishing like from the shore or fish quay :o

That was my exact thoughts on it Trev until I visited Wales for the first time and noticed almost every other angler fish's with them, Some bait them up others just cast them out and leave them. They do catch using them from piers but the more conventional way of fishing will out-fish that method at least 10 fold.

The muppets are best used from a boat for Cod and the like. When you jig them up and down the fish think they are food and go for them. Saying that if your fishing in clear water from a pier and casting in and out with them there is no reason a fish would not have a go.
Mick.
PS any hook baited would catch fish especilly whities.

I tried it a couple if times last year and failed - I think the key for muppets and the like is gin clear water...which you obvs don't get in the depths of a northern winter

great off the boat in the summer...leave them in the box during the winter :D
