very dissapionting cod season

right place, decent bait and the right time, you cant catch whats not there, not had a brill season, i am putting that down to finding the right marks to fish, however one night i caught a codling while no one else on the beach took anything that i was aware of, then again i have seen it were i have caught bugger all and loads whiting coming in, trouble is those hot spots, give it one good storm and the mark may be ruined untill the next storm, gulleys move, old nets blown onto rocks and the like,

I thought it was a rubbish year.

I am now fly fishing. £20 a day at the Derwent. Caught five the other day. Nice Rainbows and lost about 10 fighting on the way in.

I am leaning more towards fresh water these days.

But i,ll be back off the piers in the winter.:red:

I can honestly say this is a huge factor in me giving up sea fishing and going back to the fly, the fish simply arent here any more, and basically its not the fault of the fish.
Its down to man.

i now know where all the cod are! they are congragating around the spawning grounds :D true!free meals! they have started feeding the cod at the major spawning grounds to prevent them from eating their own eggs and young.
