very late start

It's a very very late start to the 2010 season ..... :(

Usually have had a number of "not very fruitful" trips out by now with excitement building as Easter nears and signals the start of the spring run of fish on the inshore marks.
Not a good start to the season with snow and hail in the week run up to easter then, unfortunately (but understandably) another two weeks trapped in the marina as the lock gets it's annual maintainence .....
Theres going to be some irate boat owners if the next two weeks turn up sunny ... :) but, it's a job that has to be done, and hopefully it'll be complete before the second weekend and we'll eventually get out there.
goodness it'll almost be mackerel time if we get held up any longer :)
Patients be, and the big cod await those that have it ....

My 1st trip out if the weather lets me will be April the 25th, prob be on my todd as everyone crys off start of season or working.

Things will pick up on your fav couple marks soon Norman and ou cant complain after your 32lber ;) at least you be safe in the knowledge that by the time i get out of bed and to the marks you and Bert will have fished them out.

LOL tony :D

got to admit rich part of the now traditional "Early Start" was in years gone by to be able to get to wrecks before bert and the boys "fished them out" haha :)

Roll on the next few weeks ... the 25th April will be the first Sunday the lock will be open barring an early finish the week previous. (generally the job is done before the end date)

Last year was silly some days, boat on every wrck from 1mile to 8miles out..sometimes you wonder why any fish stay on them :)

Well until mid-May i wont be more than 3 miles from the mouth of the Tyne, going to try that ww2 airplane wreck just off Shields beach, tried it last year when wind was blowing a hoolie and had a 3 small codling in 2 drifts, i am surised much is left of it being so close to land.

I prob see you out there Norman on Sunday, 8am start mind :) and thats if i can get the boat finished and back in the water in this 35mph wind, rain and snow :)

I will tie along side, you can dish the drinks and i will put the bacon and the eggs on to cook in the pan :)

Not long you can feel it, not long.....anyone got a giant (spelling) tarpoling so i can paint the boat in wind and rain next week lol
