Very Poor Again

Fished the Blast tonight, about half four through till nine and it was very poor indeed. There was still a nice bit of colour to the water though it has flattened right off, fished two rods one at range and the other varied both with a clipdown pennel and lugworm bait.

Third cast in I got a good rattle on the distance rod then loads of slack line, caught up with it and it felt a reasonable fish - reasonable until I got it on the beach and it turned out to be a Rockling on the bottom hook and a size coalie on the pennel :(

And that is all she wrote. Crabs were stripping the baits in minutes - even rebaiting every 15 minutes I was pulling in bare hooks and by the time I'd reel in and cast out it can't have been in the water more than 10 - 12 minutes.

Had one more bite about an hour after high tide but it came to nowt, soldiered on until just after nine and decided to come home as I was losing the will to live. With hindsight maybe I should have moved elsewhwere but its a canny trek back up to the car so laziness won out and I stayed put.

Hopefully these north north westerlies forecast for Saturday morning will show up and bring the fish back in.

couple of blanking sessions i am sure it will pick up.

theres nothing worse i fished blyth pier about 5 times in a row and blanked every time was so frustrating but like people say just got to go back out and try again and again and maybe again and again then BANG bobs your uncle you catch a decent fish and the rest is history........eddie t your right as well the only way has got to be up.....

You've probably got more sense than me then Richy. Maybe I'm getting jumpy in my old age but I have to say it is quite eerie down there after dark all on your lonesome, it is a very isolated spot now the pit is no longer there.

it sure is mate fished it quite a bit last year in the dark and a lot of the time i was the only one down the slightest noise your looking behind you lol.noticed in your post about the bait been cleaned off i had same problem 10-15 mins stripped did,nt matter what i put on ,did,nt realy get the chance to fish even if there was owt there better luck this weekend hopefully like you were saying last night if them winds come.

Fished Hall Beach last night and it was exactly the same, hooks being stripped by those pesky crabs, total blank. Hope things pick up as said for the weekend?

Wish I had read this thread before I set of yesterday and spent £10 on worms. Fished south end of blast 4pm till 9pm and it was a bite a cast from about 5 on, trouble was neither of use could hit a single bloody bite it was driving up the sodding wall. Good decent rattling pulls then nothing, tried leaving them, tried hitting them just ended up striking at sea water, started off on a 3/0 went down to a 1/0 back to 3/0, used fresh black, mussel and my mate had some macky, very frustrating to say the least, nice night though very quiet down there just the way I like it.
