Volante - Annual Maintenance Time

Dave currently has "Volante" out of the water for it's annual maintenance. Fishing is crap at the moment and the weather forecast poor.

Thought some of you would like to see the photo's of her holed up in Hartlepool in pre-maintenance state. Dave hopes to get going again at the back end of the week and hopefully fish our way back to Sunderland.....!!

Cheers,
Jeff.

I remember a boat that used to do an oil rig job based at amble named Volante, definetly not the same boat but i was wondering if there was a connection?

Lucklady...........Not sure if the Volante was the boat servicing the rigs.....boat was commissioned around '92 and spent it's former years on the Tyne. It was previously owned by Jimmy "Turbo" Rutherford.

Trust me Harry. The boat does a lot of fishing....it's out everyday the weather suits and this is not an exaggeration.....!!!! I just don't fish on her and leave reports each time as I have a proper job.....not like the Davey the owner and skipper....!! (That'll get a reaction from Davey)

For those of you who are interested I've also left some "in the water photos" in the sticky thread "boat owners identify yourself" at the top of this forum page.

Out of interest I did a google on the name Volante......

"Volante was the name given to the groups of Brazilian government armies and police soldiers whose job was to hunt and kill the cangaceiros. The members of the volantes were called "monkeys" by the cangaceiros. (I'm gonna cop some **** for that monkey comment)

In Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, a football defensive midfielder is called volante. (Davey supports NUFC and their midfield is full of them)

It also means "flying" in French and Italian. (The boat will do 30+ Knots and cruise around 24-26 knots so quite appropriate)

Cheers,
Jeff.

LuckyLady.
A guy from Widdrington Station owned the boat before Turbo, he also owned I believe a
Cygnus Cyfish 33(Volante), at the same time which probably did the offshore work from Amble Marina.
Having said that he had the Volante I own out on the Rig/Pumping station etc on a few occasions ,and I think he used to take the boat home on a trailer and do all the work in his garage during the winter months.

Harry,
Nice to see your still alive and kicking, did you ever buy that YOT from Whitehaven.
If your in the area and I am home from Saudi your more than welcome to a days fishing, in
fact it will make a change to have someone aboard that knows how to catch fish.
I have not seen or heard from Barry since he left to live in Spain.

Jeff,
Thanks for coming down to the boat in your designer gear, at least you bought the fish n chips.
I think we will just stick with the Italian version of Volante, where did the monkeys come from ??????

Dave

Christ Davey....you can actually write........wonders never cease.

With regard to the clothing and fish & chip comment you wouldn't let me near the boat anyway. Think I'll fish with Freddie and show him all the marks if I get anymore comments like that.

For Volante definitions look up wikipedia....also typed in Bolam and it said twisty ole' git.

Love,
Jeff.

Hiya Davey, Boats looking good bud all that finger pointing and orders at the crew is paying off.:)
Yes bought her in Marypork UK, 2 years now really good sailing area in the Irish sea, got Isle-of-man, West coast Scotland, and Irish Mainland all possible in a weekends sailing allbe gotta do a over-nighter sail to make a good weekend of it.Some of the summer fishing in the I.O.M is tops mate, over the banks off point of Ayre and the headlands off Peel are very good for tope and smoothhounds good sport fishing to be had from the shore also, Iv had loads of Tope from the boat but still trying from the shore.

See you down the dock.
Cheers Harry

Volante,

What are you inferring...that Jeff would turn out on a work day in a suit claiming important meetings...otherwise he would have been there helping ;)

"Heres some fish and chips....mind the suit...it takes ages getting grease marks out! "

If its any consulation I have seen Jeff sweat....just wish I had taken a photo as I am told rare footage makes a fortune on ebay these days!

You certainly are not missing owt by been out of the water if yesterdays results are anything to go by.

Lets hope it picks up soon.

Cheers
Dave
