Fair comment matey but I think you get better bite detection off of the actual rod rest head. Just my opinion like.

You need to go back to basics. I don't see the difference from a rod on a railing to a rod on a tripod head fixed to a railing. I travel a lot with fishing so weight is an issue.

lug or frozen blacks tipped with a small piece of fish on size 2 hooks will get you plenty of dabs. a single luminous trapped tight up to your bait will help.

we had dozens on friday night, most as double shots.

cudnt for the life of me understand why sum one wud comment on him having his rod rest with him . beyond a joke if he wants his tripod with him thats upto him. pay god money for tripods why the hell not use it. point taken there railings like but each to tha own init:mad:

Great spot to fish but no need for rod rests there and you could spend the whole day there without any whims. It will be perfect during the bad weather later in the year but at the moment plenty flatties and small coalies knocking about ok good luck to you.:cool::cool:

Whims

Whims

Disagree with the last thread.I once fished there, and after two or three hours of hectic sport with coalfish,i realised to my dismay,i had run out of bait.Fortunately,i had a goodly sum of whims with me,and although somewhat fiddly to secure to my trace, with the judicious use of bait elastic,i was able to continue fishing and succeeded to land numerous fish, albeit it of a considerabley smaller size.....Do i win a prize?
