Had a few hours down the Walkway this evening. Got down there about 6:20pm to find a canny few rods out already but managed to squeeze into a spot about half way along. Things were quiet for me to start with, saw a few coalies coming in but nothing for me until about 7:40 when I landed a nice size Dab which was safely returned.

Everyone else started drifting off which got me wondering, but I stuck it out and my reward was a nice codling of just under the 1 1/2 lb mark:

This was shortly followed by another fish just on size which also went back. Though I was going to be in for a canny evening after two fish in two casts but this was not to be, had a couple more bites but they came to nothing. I did however manage this, my first ever from the shore:

Was 21cm so over size but he went back to fight another day as I'm away for a couple of days and he wouldn't have got eaten.

All in all a canny if fairly quiet session, all fish came to runnydown tipped off with mussel (it was a freezer fishing session) on a simple fixed pat rig.

sounds like a good session, though i dont think my mrs would forgive me for putting a lobster back, its encouraging to see that they are getting caught in reasonable numbers on line lately as its a brightner for anyones day.

Picked my Mrs up from the airport yesterday and told her about the lobster. Turns out if I had brought it home I'd have been sent back to the beach today to set him free. Women eh :D
