Walkway 5/8/10

Just fished the Walkway for the first time. Nice Mark. Easy access, not too far to walk and plenty of fish too!

Me and my Pal went down from 6.30pm - 9.30pm fished the middle of the walkway. Plenty of undersize Codling and Coalies for sport and the odd flatty. There were a few size Codling taken too, from 1lb to 2lb.

I had one 38cm which was just over size, which I gave to the guy next to me, who looked like he had two fish each cast on a 2 hook flapper.

There were about 20 Rods down tonight, everyone seemed to be catching.

We fished with Ragworm and Crab and every Cast was either a fish or missed fish and empty hook.

An enjoyable evenings Fishing, will definately Fish there again.

i was down again tonight it was packed busyiest iv ever seen it, went down with my dad for a few hours just took him out as hes not been in over 3 year had loads of ragworm left off the night before. i had nothing untill my last 2 cast which were 2 codling 1 was size and 1 under, the size 1 had some hole in its head with a piece or stone in or something so go threw back. was a nice few hours fishing went home at 9pm just as it started to get dark probly missed all the best fish but everyone around me seemed to be catching 1 and 2 a chuck. might head down again tomorrow or hit the pier to see if theres owt there.

Not surprised Gary, it is the only place any reports are coming from at the moment. Add to that the 10lber caught the other week and every angler and his dog will be heading there. That's the problem with small venues like the walkway - it only takes a few report chasers and the place gets packed out.

yeah i seen the 10lber in the sea angler yesterday thats why i thought it was packed aswell, good little place to fish especially on the small tides but i wont fish there on the big tides normally lose a weight a cast. might head down again today or the pier

Where you fishing aroung the middle of the walkway? and offer a guy to your right with blue Bib & Braces on your leftover worms around 9pm before leaving? if so that was me......

and if it is you, you have a cracking cast on you mate......well done that man.

its a small prom just left of groyne and yacht club in front of the white houses at south shields straight across river from north shields fish quay usually plenty of parking space

I'm surprised you haven't fished the Shields area more Mick, fairly easy to get to from Consett and with the pier and the walkway some good easy marks to fish. As good as Steetly and the Heugh in many ways anyway. Though I guess you tend to go to 'pool as your old man is there.

yeah that was me mate just went out for a few hours to use some bait i had in the fridge took my dad out for abit try and get him back into fishing then he can take me up scotland iv just got a ttr aswell trying to get the feel of that its a beast.
