After gettin back on sat night from a week long stag do in Benidorm ( to long )!! I went down to blow sum cobwebs away, fished 3 hours up to HT. Had 6 or 7 Coleys. Sum of a canny stamp, lush day to be out. Was wondering when we get a spring run of Cod in the River, if we do always get 1, sure sum1 will let me know...

Some canny sport there buddy, well done mate.

Just some info for you, over the years I've fished, I've seen many spring codling, some canny good bags and fish, usually around the begining of April, and lasting sometimes to early June. The spring run of codling varies from year to year, sometimes it may start earlier/later and last for a longer/shorter time. Last year when plaice fishing on the end of shields pier, I caught a **** load of small codling, some up to 1lb 8oz, suggesting that there where plenty about, so they could have been spring codling that stayed to feed on the sandeel and sprat frenzy. :D

Hopefully you'll tap into a vein of spring run codling soon buddy, deep in the channels and gulleys of the tyne. Good luck! :)

anar its me again :D like says if the crab are on the go peeling shudnt see why they not already in the tyne ..saying that some codling are resident and have been in the tyne along time all winter infact ..but this warm weather might help ..oh and the westies might show soon too :D
