Walkway what a mess!

Interesting stuff and if you think the piers are a problem it is no different on our beauty spots in North Northumberland, the threat of closure is real .I have already been approached by a Part Of Northumberland County Council who stated that Howick Estate who own Cullernose point could close access to parts of it due to large amounts of angling litter in the summer and complaints from tourists. Fact. The last 2 meetings of the Area of Outstanding Natural beauty have also raised issue with Dunstanburgh, Beadnell and Craster harbour the list goes on. The Amble Sea Angling Club in response is holding some litter picks this summer at these beauty spots. Some 3 years back we got a lot of bad press after one of our opens about angling litter on the beach at Warkworth, we now have a tough marshalling system and automatic disqualification from the match should you be found to be littering. What's the answer, we at least need to be seen to do something in the eyes of those that could regulate against us. ?

i always think to myself when fishing and there is rubbish should i pick it up or not, but then i think if i dont and it carries on then eventually we will be stopped from fishing certain marks.

i would hate for parts of northumberland to be closed to sea anglers i spend a lot of time up there in summer and in winter and always take my rubbish and other people rubbish home with me.

as mentioned aslong as we are seen to be doing something about it should keep the people who can stop us fishing certain areas happy.

i fished the tynemouth pier last summer by myself i got onto the end and there were four blokes there all looked like they had been fishing for years and left all their rubbish on the pier and keeping undersize fish, when i pulled them about it they didnt have a care in the world. on their way back they even through in a life bouy which i managed to retreive on its way past me using my lure. there is no need for it. these blokes are the so call sensible well respected anglers everyone bang's on about.
