Interesting stuff and if you think the piers are a problem it is no different on our beauty spots in North Northumberland, the threat of closure is real .I have already been approached by a Part Of Northumberland County Council who stated that Howick Estate who own Cullernose point could close access to parts of it due to large amounts of angling litter in the summer and complaints from tourists. Fact. The last 2 meetings of the Area of Outstanding Natural beauty have also raised issue with Dunstanburgh, Beadnell and Craster harbour the list goes on. The Amble Sea Angling Club in response is holding some litter picks this summer at these beauty spots. Some 3 years back we got a lot of bad press after one of our opens about angling litter on the beach at Warkworth, we now have a tough marshalling system and automatic disqualification from the match should you be found to be littering. What's the answer, we at least need to be seen to do something in the eyes of those that could regulate against us. ?
