It is breaking human rights for someone to be filming the public. I know someone who put their camera on the front of their drive for anti social behaviour and the police knocked on his door to tell him it was only allowed to point at his door. If he's the same guy who has scratched cars and gave people abuse maybe he should get the same treatment.

that isnt going to solve anything tho is it ? if anything it will make matters worse imo, it started with people parking in the bays outside his house...people say they cant stop you but its got signs there saying resident parking only (well last time i looked it did) people are saying its him scratching the cars but nobody has any proof that ive heard of. i for one still fish there when i get the chance to go and am more annoyed at the few who spoil it with the mess and noise, i even asked a few lads there to keep the noise down and got a load of abuse back but like whats been said before its the few idiots with the noise and mess thats going to push things too far and we will loose a good fishing mark through the mindless few

Regarding the cctv, I remember watching some TV documentary, neighbours from hell or something, and residents vidied anti social behaviour in the street which was used by the local authorities as evidence for eviction etc.

i know of someone who had cctv put in by the local coucil after they had recieved complaints about the local kids
also im sure you can put a camera up as long as you have a sign saying cctv in operation ( or something along those lines )
ah well with the winter fast aproaching maybe it will get rid of the beer swigging louts for a while

If it is the same guy I am thinking of then he is an ar$ehole who may well have previous for abusing anglers and going so far as keying anglers cars. Seems he bought a nice flat overlooking the river and thinks this gives him the right to control who uses the public Walkway and he certainly doesn't like anglers disturbing his view. Plod have already been involved in the past when he called them to complain about anglers parking on the public highway - they told him to do one and he has been pursuing a personal vendetta against anlglers ever since.

A quick google also suggests he is in contravention of both the Data Protection Act and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. It is one thing to set up CCTV to monitor your own private property (legal), it is quite another to set up private CCTV cameras to monitor a public space.

Someone who was down there and has seen the cameras needs to make a call to South Tyneside Council on Monday and complain about them.

i was fishing down there this morning and out of curiosity went and had a look and took some picks,and yep there pointing at the corner

dont mean to dissagree and i dont like the idea of this man commiting a crime (keying cars) but i seem to be reading that artical in a different way .you can use a cctv for your own purposes in regards to weather a crime is being committed.


"Ensure that footage is not disclosed to anyone else without the consent of the individuals shown in it unless it is for a reason permitted under the DPA, such as the prevention or detection of crime".


my way of thinking is you are breaking the law for urinating in a public place and as a crime has been commited he is allowed to use this film as way of evidence for the police.


i had cameras installed for 10 years on the advice of the police,
iv used my cctv to help neighbours,when cars were being stolen and anti social behavior and gave the film to the police who have used the evidence to take the sh heads to court.
hopefully someone will get there cumupance on this guy,he should not be causing all this bother for a public place.
would it not be better for the council to install a public toilet on the walkway,there isnt a toilet anywere near the area.

I reckon if the coucil built a sh*t house at the walkway (not that it will ever happen like) it would make the situation 100 times worse. They'd be all sorts of activities going on probably.

naw mate this was at the oppersit end on the corner next to the boat yard.

seems we have two people with a grudge ,and can understand why it gets annoying ,ya gota ask yasel why people cant hold there water until they get home ,then again there homes must be a sh house cause of all the cra they leave about .

as far as not being legal to point your cameras in a public place look at every pub ,nightclub ,shops even doctors surgeries and speed cameras all pointing at public places say no more.
