Fathom mate or a trq if you can stretch ;-);-) . I have had both penn & daiwa reels and prefer the floating spool design as opposed to the fixed spindle design on the bg salty

Avet 5.3 sx mc well built just a little down on retreive compared with penn/saltist but Iam right into fixed spools and braid so don't use mine much.

Agree with the above,for the money can't beat the sloshe's or 535's will pull the plug out the bottom of the sea:rolleyes:.If u want to spend a bit of hard earned,the saltist's n trq's are just magic proper hardcore:cool:

Saltist 30 are great reels have 3 also slosh 30s exellent above great of peirs cliffs and heavy stuff in my opinion thinking about a fixed spool me self for the winter

Slosh 30s are pap £80 for a reel that will fall to bits if slightly abused penn trq is expensive but they do eveyrthing cast well and can snap your line with the drag power. But cheap buy twice

How about going retro ? At one time the only reliable reel for rough ground was the old ABU 9000C. Fast retrieve, high capacity with 45 lb straight through, automatic 2 speed gearing, brass side plates if you go for the black 9000 C. Gett a Swedish made one from the early 80s and they are bullet proof. Do an upgraded bearing conversion and they cast well too ;-)

Dilberts spot on !
Don't rule out the 7000c, when tuned it will cast as well as any of the heavy ground reels about !
Keep them washed off, and oiled, and they won't let you down !

Mel....::D
