Fished Warkworth last night in our club comp, ended up with 5 flounder to weigh in, biggest just over a pound and a quarter. Total weight 3 lb 8 oz.

Plenty of smaller fish about too.

All the fish were taken at no more than 30-40 yards from the shore, and all on ragworm.

Nice night, and plenty of other anglers on the beach.

do you return the fish after weight in? amazes me that the amount of flattys that get caught on that beach and the amount that each angler catches that there is still flattys there lol i mean i was there the other sunday nd couldnt do a mistake had 18 flattys all sized between me nd my mate, all returned of course.spoke to a young lad from amble club dont know if he is on here like :)
well done on your catch by the way, just hope the post doesnt cause the place to become over crowded and over fished lol never fails tht place :)

All flatties caught by club members are kept alive in buckets. After the weigh-in they're returned to the sea.

Most of the beach is ok, but the south end beside the pier, the toilets, and Killikrankie are usually the best marks for flatties.

I haven't been back since the middle of March, so I can't say if it's fishing at the minute.

Does walkworth beach fish well in winter Tony.

It's like every other venue Eddie. Some weeks it's brilliant, other weeks it's almost dead, but you can generally winkle something out.

There are better beaches for larger fish, but for numbers of fish it takes some beating.

Tony - just one more question! - when you say it's good for smaller fish do you mean whiting, codling, bass or just the flatties? I love that beach but have only fished it daytime for flats...Cheers

It is mainly a flatty beach, but if things get nice and rough you will get the odd cod there, but there are more productive marks !

Whiting fishing this winter has been very disappointing, very few caught anywhere north of Creswell.

Stick with the flatty bashing, fish as light as possible, and don't cast to far. You can't beat it !! (And you never know what might turn up.)
