Warkworth / Seaham

Hi Alll Anybody got any advice on Walkworth beach or Seaham beach. Heard the old seaham beach is a good spot, but lots of reports of cars being damaged, but i be will going during the day. After my good day at Embleton last week is Warkworth similar. I live in Ripon so seaham is closer but i do love the northumberland coast.

Your best bet would be to fish seaham spiles which is at the bottom of pier as you can drive your car down and practically fish out of your boot

No problem with car parking at Seaham. If you had said Horden, now thats a different matter.

Personally there is loads better beaches to fish from between those marks. If your fishing day time only on beaches your really only going to catch is flaty's, and the odd cod. Is it only beaches you are wanting to fish?

Well i think that's sorted the car issue at seaham. Cheers for all the info!!!!! Hopefully will give seaham a chuck next week.

I do love to fish of the beach and thats always my first choice but any pier action will do as well. hardly done any rock fishing as yet but the time will come soon.

If you're going to fish beaches in daytime and looking for cod, pick beaches with mixed bottom of sand/rock/kelp for best chances, plus much better if overcast and dull, and always better with a bit sea on.

South end of the prom, directly opposite the part of the cliff that jutts out furthest, very clean, no snags. Had whitey,(codling-my fishing partner, not me!) and a 3 pound Bass (which went back in). Careful of Featherbed rock (goole earth) people have been swept in and killed-avoid. Pier can be good, for me, mainly whitey but have heard of lots of Dogfish, and usually some one pulls in a big cod. The end quite snaggy, as was the channel into the port the last time we fished. Have actually had a whitey weighing 1 & 1/2 pounds last year. No rails so can get a tad hairy. You'll need to join Seaham Angling Club, and you'll get a key. £30.

Regards parking, never had any dramas. We've also seen naked female skinny dippers; another reason why I'm a fan.

Have fished in Ripon when I used to live there, caught pike to 18 pounds and chub to 5 pounds in the Ure, great place. Fished a pond down by the river (forgotten name) and had tench to 6 pound there, brilliant. Also a trout lake near past the golf course, near Masham I think, again v.good. Never caught a barbel (in 6 years!) but saw some massive ones, laughing at me.

If your gona fish anyway at the minute I would fish some of the marks along ryhope, they have been fishing good recently despite the flat seas we have had!
