Had a bit of a nightmare last night.

3 of us fished shields pier last night, fished from 6.45 - 11.15pm.
never had a knock all night!! bait used was rag, frozen blacks , razor & mussel.
Blowing of gale all night.

Packed up at about 11.15pm headed back to the car ( parked in the pier car park ) passed a couple of lads heading to the end of the pier had a bit craic with them, they told us that they had seen the lad who locks the car park had been lurking about.

Got back to the car about 11.40pm loaded up & went to go home only to find the barriers down on every exit of the car park!!

Checked all the signs which all said THIS CAR PARK WILL BE CLOSED EVERY DAY AT 12!

Looked for a telephone no to ring couldn't find anything so decided to call the police. Spoke to a very nice man who informed us we could be in for a long wait, he noted the time we called 11.45pm

About 1/2 hr passed & he called me back saying he had spoke to the security firm Delta 1 & had been told they would not come out unless it was a lone female!! He explained the gate had been locked early but they were having non of it.

So we decided to call a taxi, whilst waiting for the taxi 2 squad cars turned up. the bobbys were sound guys & tried all they could to get us out.
They contacted the council & Delta 1 trying to sort it out, but to no avail.

We were just about to give up when we spotted a gap between the the bollard & barrier, We measured it at 6 footsteps.
Measured the car at just under 6 footsteps...... We had to give it a go, I mounted the kerb pulled in the wing mirrors & started edging our way through I had literally 10mm either side, got to the back wheel arches & the lads had to push the right side of my car up to get through.

At last after An hour & 1/2 we were free.!!!!

I've spoke to the council & have to put a letter in writing.

Just beware when parking in that car park chaps!!

Thats s**t that like:mad:, so had you got a taxi home and your car was broken into who be liable? it wouldn't be me that's for sure and I'd be claiming my taxi fare back to. But least you got home with your car that's the main thing. Lets us know what they reply Geordie.

Hope they sack the selfish git, or at the very least dock his pay for not fullfilling his hours. Full credit to the police though for trying to help.
What realy narks me when I think about this, is the attendant must have seen your car, and decided NOT to give you a chance to return to it before the correct 'lock' up time.
Anyway pleased you got your car back safely.

although very annoying to be locked up. it was just as well you lads didnt have and emergency to go as you where knackered. it would be nice to think the ignorant pr#ck who locked you up would befall an equally discomforting experience himself sometime in the future.

one question i have!

why do the council close these carparks?????

it costs the council money to pay a firm to close these car parks so why do they not just leave them open.

I would say Boy racers tearing it up and those who like to go dogging are a couple of reasons mate.

Cheers

thats s**t that like but saying that most security firms are the same unforunatley i work for a local one and know enough to say that most of them dont care about there staff all they are bothered about at the end of the day is there bank balance which is all wrong if it said midnight then it should of been midnight but some of them are just plain ignorant

glad u got out ok i hope they get their wages docked especially if it is that fat one that gave me a parking ticket last year for not being in the correct bay even though i had paid :D:D jeff

They should have designed it with a separate entrance and exit, with some of thoses one way spikes/ramps that fold down when you drive over them on the exit so that you can still drive out when they have locked the entrance.

I used to work for DeltaOne..... in all honest there a bunch of jokers..... parks were getting closed at 1430-1500 even cemeteries were getting closed an hour early..... half the people i worked with couldnt tie there own shoelaces... the reason DeltaOne were given the ST council contract is because they are pretty much the cheapest going, I remember being on 4.85 working 18hr days lol

nice of the police to be so helpful, we generally just hear the not so helpful stories on here.

Well said Alan..:o I'd ov been fuming it it had been me locked in. Fished a comp once, with the meeting place and registration being in that car park. We all parked up and registered before disspersing to fish our spots. You should have seen the Security/warden. He couldnt write down our reg numbers quick enough.. still waiting for the summons.

2 weeks ago when the ice and snow was down and i mean down, the battery on my car died whilst parked at the rear of the ben lomond pub in jarrow at selby court.my son came and we tried to start it etc but knacker job!!.so we pushed it about 80 yds in the ice etc up hill and parked it in the residents only bays .i knocked on the nearest house no 23 which was 5,yes 5 footsteps from my car ,spoke to a lovely old lady who gave me a pen and paper on which i wrote a note measuring "10 x 5" explaining my predicament and left my mobile number but i photographed this.contacted grrenflag recovery who due to the volume of calls etc with the weather etc said around 6pm at night some 7 hours away.i left my car in situ and went home thinking what more could i do to prevent a ticket etc.???

yes your right went back to the car at 6pm and what was stuck on the windscreen a £70 ticket for parking there btwn 431pm and 432pm.it has been an absolute nightmare to get it written off,the jobs worth would not /or could not give me a viable explanation as to why he did not contact me or knock on the old dear's door and ask her as i had also left her details on the note and why they would ticket some one for being there for ONE minute.i have had to send them the computerised logs of being towed home and a note from the old dear before they wrote it off and then they had the cheek to send me a dear john letter starting off "we are pleased to tell you " etc.an absolute nightmare and i sympathise with you if thats now 2 incidents of poor and shoddy workmanship by people employed by stmc, anyway rant over
