Waterproofs

would not have IMAX again, bought the white squall jacket and sallopetes when they first came out, £149.99, what a waste of money f**ked inside 3 months, had greys and also fladen, i reckon they are crap, had sundridge SAS 1 piece and sundridge entec 2 piece, i would match them against any on the market for keeping you warmm, dry and longer lasting

abu smocks and sallopettes are ****e aswell, theyr like a soft crisp packet and first time in rain salopettes ****ed in :mad:

Well im still on the look out! Had a butchers at the Sundridge bib n brace in Reelsport but feels a little on the heavy side, had a look down at the walkway on sunday and one guy down there had a mustad jacket on and i liked the look of them and he reckons there well worth the coin. Im not so much worried about the warmth side of them cos i would have other gear on underneath its just the waterproof qualities cos once your wet your gonna get colder a lot quicker and thats gonna cut short my sessions.
Ive deffo ruled out the Imax though!

For very cold nights i wear my greys neoprene waders with my Apollo fleece and Apollo jacket on top...........top combo in my opinion and i've been out in just about the wettest weather you can get. Light and very easy to move around in which is the best bit!

Ive got the chesties and fleece but didnt know if id be too hot with the jacket on aswell, still need the bib n brace for the cliffs and pier though. If its lashing down and im fishing the cliffs then i would probs wear the chesties but not for walking up Shields pier!

When it's warm i just take the fleece off and go with the jacket. Greys new apollo waterproof trousers. Very light and very warm and waterproof are great for the pier.

Have you had a look at the mountain/hillwalking stuff?. I use a Sprayway jacket & pants combo (gore-tex) & have no issues with waterproofing & wind resistance, as they are used for mountain climbing they are hardwearing with extra ptotection around knees/elbows etc.
Also you could try the Berghaus factory or I think its called killerbrands or similar on the Royal Quays for a decent set up for around £150

You won't go wrong with the Imax white squall smock had mine about 3 or 4 years and it is still water tight, i paid £70 but have just ordered another one today (incase i can't get my hands on one when this one eventually fails) they are going for £49.99 at Gerrys at the moment.

i feel they are a perfect style for fishing too, with a pair of neoprene waders you are guarenteed to remain dry in any conditions.

I have just come back from a trip on the boats in Plymouth (Mirage), there was a storm running all day rain was horizontal (we had to fish in the sound when it got too rough)everyone was wet under their waterproofs when taking them off - NOT ME.

They really are that good.

the one people above seem to have had the problem with was the jacket not the smock.

Smock is (still) brilliant.

There is no padding inside just a net lining, which means it can be folded up pretty small and can be worn in the summer (what summer !).

It had a great hood that allows a headlamp to be worn and the hood still covers it allowing you to remain dry.

Would i be ordering another while mine is still perfect, unless i was frightened i would not be able to get hold of another in the future.

i chose the black and red one.
