Weather Gods - Are you having a laugh!?

Because if you are, it's not funny! I mean am I hallucinating, or is this really the 6th of July!

Got down to the Fish Quay today and Jim was not too confident of our chances. Anyway after a coffee and a chat, to his credit, we went out for a look see. Past the piers and we were rocking and rolling immediately in a big swell, which couldn't properly be appreciated from land. A classic case of the Skipper's knowledge and experience showing through I think. After ten minutes we all agreed it was a waste of time. Very disappointing, but who wants to be tossed around all day in the pouring rain, making fishing just a horrible toil, rather than the pleasure we all wanted. The right decision was made and back we came.

So now a day in the caravan watching the tennis (come on Andy, you taciturn fellow Scottish git) a few beers and a shake of the head in disbelief that July could be so bad!

Travelling home on Monday, but we are going to try again with Jim on Sunday. I hear a wee rumour that the most famous Scottish Charter Angler in the North East will be joining us..............................so looking forward to meeting Duncan again.(Lynn is super excited!).

Hopefully the holiday will end on a high note.

I know how you are feeling Mark m8 as i am sure somebody up there has got it in for us fishermen but hopefully everything will change after this week Mark m8 and what caravan park are you on m8 as i am going up to Eyemouth North Park in August so i hope the weather is great by then as i am having a weeks break then and doing a bit fishing there and St Abbs so keeping everything crossed for then but till then we have to grin and bear it so keep smiling m8 and keep the good work up and hope you do well catching a few fish there in Scotland so good luck .

I know Steve. I thought Jim was great today. As you know we had 2 friends who travelled all the way down from Scotland, especially for the charter, so for Jim to take us out for a wee look, even though he knew the day was probably a washout, says a lot for the man. David and Alex, while so disappointed to be heading back to Scotland by 9am this morning, after a long drive and a night in a hotel, with nothing to show for it, at least knew it could not be helped. The last thing David said to Jim was, "I will give you a ring in August, as we are determined to get out with you."

Showing consideration for your customers goes a long way, even if some onlookers don't seem to get that!

As to the angler.......... well on our first ever charter out of Amble, when we knew considerably less than we do now, (which shows how bad we were!) Duncan looked after us and kept us right.

Hopefully see you Sunday.

This bad summer weather just keeps going on and on,my sailing plans to Oban and the western Isles trip is put on the back burner for now,no fun when its like this.

Indeed. Just watched the news and they explained it was because of the jet stream. Not sure I understood it properly though :red:

Hi Kayos, If your north of the jet stream you get all the low pressures and all the associated crap that comes with it, south of the jet stream is usually high pressure with lighter winds etc: at least that's my interpretation of it

When you think about the jet stream,it's not that long ago it was discovered.

Think it was only during the 2nd world war when the American bomber pilots were dropping their bombs and missing the target area by a long way they discovered this fast moving air stream high up in the atmosphere.

So all this bad weather we having...........you know who to blame now.......

Absolutely correct Jester! Plus we had another 2 from Scotland who came down especially for the trip. I am at a loss as to why someone would post such a comment?

Yer i never went out today on the planned trip and just called Sat off as well, more weeks of this due as well, on the plus side the fish have a chance to bet bigger this year around our coast for next season

Underground nuke testing by the french and the north koreans me thinks. B@*"rds Something had def gone pear shaped somewhere tho. I've heard tell that we get eastern us weather about three weeks after them. Just poss that after the turmoil a mega heat wave could be looming.

that`s how it goe`s kayos m8, because you`ve travelled a lot, the skipper tried to get you and your party out, for that, he deserve` some credit.
and even more credit for saying it`s not safe . ! .
that`s why he`s still in buisiness.
