Weekly visit to Chatton

Enjoyed a five hour session along with my two mates and we had a very satisfying day, we all had our bag of three fish the best one being 5.1/2lbs.
Kiliing patterns were Green Nymhps, Red and Green Bloodworms and a variety of lures, the best being Black Fritz.
Other anglers around the lakes were catching steadly but the early part of the morning seemed the most productive time of day.
A nice cup of coffee and a bit of banter with Allison finished the day off nicely.

well done seddo, canny sesh. you must like it up there, what with fishing it on a weekly basis. what's the attraction (apart from all the limit bags:D)? is it ya local water? i know its in a lovely part of the county, has it ya typical picture postcard views of the cheviots etc? have not heard a single negative comment about the place whenever its been mentioned, which is praise indeed (you know what a lot of trout fishermen are like, 'grass needs cutting, its got nee tail, its owa weedy' :o:Detc etc) do they do a variety of tickets and whats it cost for a full day kill ticket? sorry for all the questions, am gettin carried away but we have a caravan at bamburgh and i'm fancying a chuck................................

cheers, keep up the good work:)

Hi D.M,
a few things I like about Chatton and the reason why me and my two mates fish it on a weekly basis.
1. It is a reasonable travel, 46miles up the A1 and only takes about 40 odd minutes to get there.
2. The fishery is a family business and Rodger and Allison are the best hosts I have come across.
3.The lake is a reasonable size and it is trickle stocked daily with some of the best quality fish you would care to cast a line at.
4.Another lake will be opening in the spring which can only be a bonus.
5. if you are into photgraphy then you will get some cracking pics as the scenery is magic.
6. On the financial side, being retired we get two pound off our day ticket which is £16 for three fish for 5 hours fishing, they also run a loyalty card which gives you a freebie after 5 visits. If you calculate the freebie over 5 weeks in ends up at £13 pound for 3 fish for 5 hours at the bankside.
7. There is a cracking lodge where you can have a bite to eat and a cuppa if you feel the urge and they have a smattering of tackle for hire or other odds and ends for sale.

Me and my two mates also visit other venues but we also like our weekly trip up the road, the joys of retirement.:)
