Weighty Alternatives...

Having now discovered that nothing consumes lead weights faster than a snaggy wreck; I was wondering - considering the cost of lead itself - has anyone tried anything else?

I read on the shore forum archives about people using sand filled inner tubes...:exclam:

Spark plugs and other bits you can find at a breakers yard...

Make a mould and set some shaped concrete perhaps?

Has anyone concidered heavy chain as an alternative to lead sinkers?
Used that years ago and lost less weights, just a thought.;)

Mick, I still use spark plugs now when I'm fishing rough ground :-)
I just ask the local garages and they'll usually keep them for me when they've been doing services.

push bike inertube, cut into pieces tied at 1 end then fill with sand then tie other end off,use to do that a few years back on the boat
