might be worth a shot on the huegh if you can get on ive found ways over the fence so that aint too bad just depends how big this sea gets

cheers daz yeah never considerd the heugh because of the fence but may now as u can get over it.

Andy the summertime mackeral bashing "knacker" squad are still out in force on the end of Roker Pier...

if you do go.. try the bend half way up the pier.. casting into the sea, opposit the first set of stairs on the harbour side.. - I use a clipped down Size 1 hooked 1 up 1 down portsmouth rig with breakaway imp here, as distance does help at this mark.

should keep you away from the bulls lugs on the end.. and is a nice deep spot, with a bit kelp / rocks...

or futher up the coast, from the scout hut to the first gate on shields pier always produces fish (coaly codling flatties whities), if not in quality, theres always fish up to 2lb quite regular.. and is a bit more sheltered. A simple 2 hook one up one down flapper suffices here.. as most fish seem to be in the 50 - 120 yards mark.... especially the flatties.

With the sea away due to these northerlies the bottom end of Shields could well be a cracking call. Roker will defo be a no-no as will the Heugh unless you have a death-wish.

not too sure ive had a walk along the huegh thismorning and the sae aint too bad yet im thinking of giving it a shot thisafternoons tide there was a couple lads on the end after mackerill told them that they where wasting there time due to the water colour

Roker pier will be closed in this weather. Try the stone steps at Marsden will be sheltered and on such a big tide could well produce.

just got back from redcar the sea is bubbling its unfishable at redcar itssssssssssssssss massive !

Roker pier is shut for a long overdue clean, was in the area this morning and the sea is picking up canny, one lonesome macky basher on the end of the old pier,in very strong northerlies, torrential rain and 2 hours before low:rolleyes:
Shields pier got to be worth a shot Saturday, blocks on the ebb, then the river on the flood, folow the tide sett in,finish up on the first gate for the flood, got too be a few fish show:)
