Im off over the west coast of scotland next week and was just wondering if anyone had info on a few spots. First off Im wanting to find the \"flat rock\", is it actualy in balcary? if so where abouts is it? Ive fished balcary a few times bur never seen owt that looks like a flat rock :( .

Also Ive heard colvend is a canny mark, any info on where to park the car and how to get to the actual spot? Any other info on marks round here would be much appreciated. Im up there for a week so want to find out as much as possible, cant wait.

Cheers folks :D

Im staying at sandyhills Jonny. Me and the missus have booked a lodge type thingy for a week. Went up last year too it was class.

Im supposed to be going up with the lads soon too, just gonna find somewhere to pitch a tent if you know of anywhere. :)

have a look on there for when you go up with the lads http://www.stilwell.co.uk/scm.asp?Q=camps%7CC68%7CR18

or if you want to pitch a tent in sandyhills area itself, try -
Sandyhills Bay Leisure Park
Telephone: 01387 780257
Open: Apr to Oct
Sandyhills, Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire, DG5 4PT

which lodge are you staying at, Thistle Lodge?

I would take a drive and fish some of the marks at Kippford, Kirkcudbright and Port William.
Also if you course fish i have heard that Barend Loch is stocked with good carp.

Cheers for the link there Jonny. Im actualy staying at barend holiday village which overlooks the loch http://www.milford.co.uk/scotland/accom/r-l-2000.html shame I dont course fish :casstet: I might take my fly rod up though cos theres some canny trout fisherys up there too.

Do you know any marks at kippford? have you heard of the flat rock, its supposed to be a good spot but Im not sure where it is, Im not sure if its in balcary or stranraer. Cheers for the help mate :D

Its at the balcary mate, the flat Rock at Balcary is a favourite place for catching monster cod and i have heard the run of tope in Luce Bay is excellent to. You should get some good sport with dogfish, pollock and wrasse at most marks pete.

Some good plaice and flounders on worm baits as well. Chance of a thorny and smoothounds, crab for the smoothies. There should be any amount of dogs though.

You learnt how to unhook them without a towel yet jonny ;)

balcary is at balcary well near as dam

to find it if i remember rightly you need to get to it from the north side look for a big cross on top of the hill and its near enough below it.

you could also try the estuary at kirkudbright fish the tide going out you can wade right out into the middle of the estuary shingle bottom safe as houses also high water you can try for the mullett (try if you like).....
or you could drive through kirkudbright and you will come to Borgue from there head left up to Carrick beatiful place, fish from the beach with the tide pushing in for bass.

Re Colvend ; this is also simalar to fishing Kirkudbright only thing is i know that at kirkudbright its easy parking look out for the red and green markers in the estuary thats were you want to be fishing last time i was there a local lad got two eight pounders.

john

Cheers for all the help lads. Im still confused to where flat rock is though :D LOL

Ill probably fish dundrennan too, fished there last year and had a canny good time. Anyone know where I can find the tides out for the 3rd sep? Ive tried easytide but you can only check them for the next 7 days.

Cheers :D
