The Christmas Cheer Pairs competition took place this weekend with 15 pairs contesting. The weather for once was pleasant cold but no strong winds. The fifteen pairs caught 109 fish a rod average of 3.6 per angler
The match was dominated by the Tuck Family from Ashington. Jim Tuck had a fabulous morning session catching 11 fish with one for his partner Steve Fish totalling 12 fish to leave everyone else miles behind. The only others to make an impact during the morning were Jims son Chris with 5 and Ernie Craster with 5. So Jim and Steve took a lead of 4 fish into the afternoon.
Jim Tuck struggled during the afternoon as he has done during recent matches but his partner managed 2 fish to finish on a team total of 14 and 2nd place . Chris Tuck however had a brilliant afternoon landing 8 fish along with his partner Scott Nellins total of 6 fish finished on a team score of 19 to win the pairs and Chris to take top individual. This win earned Chris and Scott a qualification into the final of the West House Winter League £500 final
Brian and Linda from Northern Ireland fished consistently all day with Brian landing 9 fish to finish with a team total of 13 and 3rd place. Ernie Crasters partner Peter Crowe fished well to land 5 giving a team score of 10 good enough for 4th place
