FISHING REPORT W/E 16/06/08
Slightly cooler overcast weather has produced a big improvement in the fishing over those hot sunny days. The lakes are crystal clear and the fishing has been excellent with small dry or buzzer patterns catching the most fish. Its an ideal time of the year to stalk fish in the clear margins. There have been some prolific rises with patterns such as CDC emergers, Hares Ear, and Black Spiders performing well
Two nice doubles have been caught this week. John Fletcher of Keswick landed a rainbow of 17lb 4oz caught in the larger Mill lake on a Hares Ear. Ohn had an excellent day catching a total of 9 fish. Peter Bedford caugh a fish of 14lb on a size 20 Black Spider using 4lb line, the fish taking almost 20 minutes to subdue. Eric Robinson of Sunderland caught 14fish during a hectic evening session all falling to small black dry flies, and Ronnie Morrison of Saltburn had a memorable day catching 16 fish on a variety of small patterns.
Remember an evening ticket is available with fishing from 4 – 9.45 pm for £8
Flies of the week :- Shuttlecock Emergers, Shipmans, Hares Ear, Black or Olive buzzers. Black Spinner, Black Spider, Black Beetle, Pheasant Tail Nymphs
