FISHING REPORT 28/10/08

1st leg of the Winter Series took place this weekend and with the prevailing weather conditions it proved to be quite tough. Very bright and windy weather made the fishing challenging although a total of 52 fish were caught

Reigning champion Richar Landsbury got of to a flier with a fish after just one minute catching 2 on his first move but losing another 4. Chris Micallef and Dave Mordue both started well with Dave catching on tiny Black and Spider patterns. John McGarrill landed a nice fish of 10lb 8oz. At the end of the morning session Richard and Chris were leading on 4 fish with Dave just behind on 3

The fish proved to be under the windward back on the afternoon with Dave and Chris making steady progress to finish on 7 fish. Other anglers caught fish and had chances ( Andy Saunders 3, Jonathon Elderton 3, Ernie Craster 3, Peter Crowe 3, Paul Moore 3) but lost fish and hard luck stories kept them out of the reckoning. Richard Landsbury failed to catch another fish until his last move and 30mins before the end he found the pattern landing another 3 fish to finish on a total of 7 to win the match by virtue of his quick first fish

RESULTS

1st Richard Landsbury 7 fish £80 qualified
2nd Chris Mcillaf £50 qualified
3rd Dave Mordue £30 qualified
4th Ernie Craster qualified

Idiot, fish the next one and get through to the final. See how you get on competing with the proper anglers! HAHAHAHAHA

2 people out of the top 3 have fished for England? And you think you can do better. Lets be seeing it.

I take it you are one of these internationals fluffchucker?? If so, you have a responisibility to represent your sport and your country in a fitting and correct fashion. Whether it is football, rugby, cricket or one of the minor sports such as rounders, fly-fishing or tiddly winks, when you wear you countrys colours for should set an example and be an ambassador, help and encourage others who aspire to be as good as you.

I don't catch 20 fish everytime I go fishing, of i course I don't, I am a once a week fisherman who has the occasional red letter day. Reading your posts, I decided to see if you could take a bit of stick as well as you dish it out?? The above post is proof to all you can't, or can you? we'll see!!! The lad who caught 13 at West House and wanted to keep his fly a secret was pilloried by you! Like me, he is probably just an average joe angler who had a canny day and thought with a bit of luck, this secret fly might give him even half a chance against the creme de la creme such as yourself come the big match. As an england class angler, that shouldn't bother you and you shouldn't resort to calling lesser anglers fools, to be honest.

Try dropping the attitude fluffchucker, an angler of your ability should be an asset to the sport and to this forum, i respect your achievements, but not your persona. I can see your just a young 20 year old lad and you may well grow out of this 'big time charlie phase'. Lets hope you do and turn into one of the good guys of match fishing such as Campbell Baird, a top quality angler and nice bloke to boot. You may well already be that but i'm sure you'd be the first to admit you have dished out some unwarranted stick on this forum. Sort it out kidda, theres a good lad ;)

P.s i might give that west house match a shot if you tell me which fly you used, at what depth and reveal your speed of retrieve.:red:

Well said mate, I've met the lad in question but he wont remember me.

Fluffchucker you are a good fly fisherman there is no doubt about it and I know your happy to help and hand out advice as you've fished with a mate of mine. I'm new to fly fishing and look in here for advice from people like yourself. Good luck in retaining your title. I really do hope your not brought back down to earth with a bump before you can prove your a canny lad.

Cheers

Yeah sless, seniors and youth team members. It was an extremely hard day!

And yes I am 'one of those internationals'. I was not trying to have a go at anyone on this site!!!! Maybe I just took your last commentthe wrong way?

Its nice saying that you can go and catch 20 fish in a session but if there is no way the fish will have it (like the competition day) then you will not catch 20!!!!!

After the morning session I thouht that it would take at least 12-15 fish on the new lakes to win it, but it fished very hard. You cannot compare a pleasure session to a competition day with the movement of pegs and the rod pressure the fish get wary.

Also, have you actually met Campbell Baird??? Or are you getting this information from the trout fisherman magazines? I have personally fished with Campbell and yes, he is a nice bloke, but when he is in his 'competition mode' like myself, cant be secrative!! Hence he success!!!!

Hope this irons a few things out!

fluffchucker, you have done nothing but take the micky and abuse members of this forum since you joined it, including a very rude and libelous post against a tackle dealer that you since removed. If I had not been on holiday at the time I would have deleted your acount without saying a word. I just actually read what you posted this morning when going back through every one of your posts, before you say I could not have, I have the facility to read every post that has been changed or deleted both before and after. If you doubt me just ask and I will send it in a PM. I was just informed about it by PM when I returned from holiday two weeks later. Your international team mates will be so proud of you when they read all of this eh?

I sent you a PM a few days ago, I suggest you read it, SOON.

Jim.
