FISHING REPORT 10/11/08
2ND leg of the Winter Series took place this weekend and once again we were not helped by the weather with torrential overnight rain and windy rain conditions during the match not helping the anglers. On a positive note all 20 of the anglers who fished the match caught fish NO blanks with a total of 50 fish being landed a rod average of 2.5
Peter Matthews, Bill Webster, and Gareth tulley all caught fish in the first two minutes of the match but the angler making the most progress during the morning session was young Ryan Matthews 14 years old who landed 3 fish ( including one of 6lb) and lost two more on his second peg. Chris MiCallef caught a Carp ( not allowed to count ) estimated between 15 -20lb. Some of the favourites struggled during the morning session with lots of tales of lost fish and pulls but no contact. By lunchtime Andy Campbell was leading with 4 fish followed by Ryan on his 3 fish.
After lunch Ryans father made an early charge catching 3 fish on his 1st peg to move into the lead. A number of other anglers started to make a charge after lunch and with one move to go we had 3 anglers on 5 fish (Peter Matthews, Andy Campbell and Gareth Tulley) and 3 anglers on 4 fish ( Dave Mordue, Chris MiCallef, and Peter Crowe). Dave Mordue did not catch a fish until the last hour when he switched to a pair of BLUE Zonkers !
The decisive break came on the last peg with Andy Campbell landing 2 fish to his Zonker to claim a victory with Peter Matthews 2nd and Gareth 3rd
