well lads last night me and dave had decided to go out for a decent session
we arruved at the huegh about 1800 managed to get over the mangled fence got to the end of the pier and rigged up just about to bait up and cast out and all of a sudden i seen a couple of massive brakers about 50yrds out so me and dave decided to pack up and not take the risk so we headed north pulled up at roker to find the pier locked so we had a driver round to rathouse spoke to a couple of lads fishing who said it was very poor
so we then finally went a little bit further up the road to the groyne a new mark for me to try we give it a few hours with only one small codling to show for with it being quiet we headed back to ratty and fished the end with got chatting to another lad already fishing there,he told me it was all quiet so we decided to carry on fishing with only a couple bites by the time it turned 0130 we decided to head back to hartlepool after no luck furthe up the cost dave went round to the piolet pier and i headed onto the huegh as it look ideal first cast resulted in a codling for 1lbthen a breaker came over the pier just before the bit i was fishing so i packed up again and joined dave on the piolet both of us had a couple small undersized codling but nothing to shout about we decided that by the time it turned 0540 we packed up after a very long slow night....wont be defeated i will be back out

Hard luck Daz. Same thing happened to me on Sat only my spots were in Hartlepool. I hate the Pilot as its so snaggy and was determined not to spend a full sesh on there. Ended up at twin steps but when tide turned water went out quick---all in all a sh-t session.
As to the Heugh you did the right thing mate--that pier has breakers coming right over the end on occasion so its best not to take risks.

Mick.
